This is an excerpt from Dr. Ron’s book Kingdom Advancement.
Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. (Psalm 24:9)
The psalm repeats itself. Verse nine is nearly identical to verse seven. The command goes out again. The gates are addressed again. This is not editorial carelessness. In Hebrew poetry, repetition signals intensification. The gates addressed in verse nine differ in kind from those in verse seven—more resistant, more deeply entrenched, and requiring sustained engagement before they move.
The additional descriptor is everlasting doors—literally doors of old, ancient portals that have been in place since ancient times. These are not the contemporary gates of verse seven. These are ancient doors—structures whose legal foundations were laid by agreements, covenants, and iniquities that predate you by generations, perhaps centuries.
The repeated command is the psalm’s honest acknowledgment that some doors require more than one command. Not because the King of Glory lacks power, but because the legal structures that established them require a corresponding legal process to dismantle.
You cannot shout an ancient door open.
You have to address its legal foundation.
An ancient door is a structural reality in the heavenly realm with legal backing—a covenant, an iniquity, or an agreement with darkness that established spiritual access and has been maintained across generations. In my experience in the Courts of Heaven, ancient doors typically manifest in these patterns:
The presence of an ancient door is not a sign of spiritual inadequacy. It is confirmation that your assignment carries significant Kingdom weight. The enemy does not post ancient doors in front of insignificant territory; he posts them in front of what he considers strategic. If you have encountered an ancient door, you have found the real assignment.
Daniel had been fasting and seeking God for twenty-one days when a heavenly messenger finally arrived with an explanation for the delay: the Prince of Persia had withstood the messenger for twenty-one days. It required Michael’s arrival to break through. What Daniel engaged was an ancient structure—a territorial principality with deep legal roots in the Persian Kingdom—requiring sustained heavenly engagement to move.
Daniel’s role was to keep fasting and praying. He did not interpret the delay as denial. He did not disengage after day seven or fourteen. He held his position for the full twenty-one days, and his sustained engagement provided the legal basis for Michael’s intervention. His intercession was not merely devotional—it was legal: the sustained, persistent assertion of a covenant representative who refused to stop standing at the ancient door.
What ancient door are you facing? How many days have you been standing at it? Do not mistake sustained resistance for divine denial. You may be on day seventeen.
Paul’s approach to principalities and powers was not primarily through aggressive confrontation but through the legal victory Jesus had secured at the cross. In Colossians 2:14–15, he describes the Calvary transaction in legal language: Jesus cancelled the certificate of debt against us—nailing it to the cross—and having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them.
The ancient doors lost their ultimate legal basis at Calvary. They are still standing in many cases because no one has shown up to enforce the verdict. The assignment of the crown-bearer is not to win a battle that has not yet been won. It is to enforce a verdict already issued. When you stand in the Courts of Heaven, declare the blood of Jesus over the legal foundation of an ancient door, and receive Heaven’s verdict—you are not creating a new victory. You are carrying an existing one to its destination.
[This activation is a structured Courts of Heaven engagement. Do not rush through it. It may require multiple sessions.]
Identify one specific ancient door in your assignment—a generational pattern in your family, a territorial stronghold in your city, or a sustained area of spiritual resistance in your calling. Write it down specifically.
Ask Holy Spirit to reveal the legal root:
“Father, what covenant, iniquity, or agreement established this ancient door? Show me what the enemy is using as his legal basis to keep this door shut.”
Wait and write what you receive.
Stand in identificational repentance:
“Father, on behalf of [my bloodline / this territory / this people], I stand before Your court and acknowledge the iniquity of [specific issue]. I repent of it. I take responsibility for it as a covenant representative of this people. I do not excuse it or minimize it. I bring it before You for Your judgment.”
Present the blood:
“Father, I present the blood of Jesus against every legal claim the enemy has established through [specific iniquity]. The blood of Your Son is the legal instrument that cancels that claim. I apply it specifically to [the ancient door]. On the basis of the finished work of Calvary, I petition this court to cancel the legal foundation of this ancient door.”
Receive the verdict:
“Father, I receive Your righteous verdict. I declare that the legal basis for this ancient door is cancelled. The door is moved. The gate is open. The King of Glory may advance.”
Now occupy:
“I declare sustained Kingdom presence over [the territory or bloodline]. I will not retreat from the ground that has been taken. I will maintain the advance until this territory is fully established under the King’s governance.”
“I lift up every gate in my sphere of authority—including the ancient doors that have stood for generations.”
“By the blood of Jesus and the authority of my crown, every generational covenant with darkness is null and void.”
“I stand in the Courts of Heaven and receive the righteous verdict of God over every ancient structure in my territory.”
“I will not stop at day seventeen. I will hold my position until the ancient door moves.”
“The King of Glory advances through every obstacle—and His Kingdom has no end.”
