Undoing Generational Covenants and Accessing Generational Blessings
September 10, 2025Scepters are, in a sense, ornamental staffs carried by rulers as a symbol of sovereignty. However, they are not merely ornamental. They are symbolic in Scripture of authority, kingship, righteous rule, and divine favor. As sons, we don’t use scepters to fight our enemy, because a scepter is not a weapon. You don’t wield a scepter to get to a place of authority—you wield a scepter because you are already IN a place of authority.
Scepters speak of authority, legitimacy, favor, access, righteousness, and justice, which are the foundations of God’s throne. Often, the word scepter was also translated as rod or staff. Each variation has a particular nuance—scepter: kingly authority and royal favor; rod: speaks of the power to enforce discipline, judgment, or firm rulership; staff: speaks of tender guidance and leadership from a shepherding standpoint.
Psalm 23:4:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (Emphasis mine)
Angels are released to each of you for your places of assignment—they do the battling for you; they are equipped for it!
Psalm 45:6:
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. (Emphasis mine)
Hebrews 1:8-9:
8 But to the Son He says: ‘Your throne, O God is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your Kingdom. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, your God has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions.’ (Emphasis mine)
The Father is changing our mode of operation
from “sword-based” to “scepter-based.”
Psalm 125:3:
For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity. (Emphasis mine)
Revelation 19:15-16:
15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod (scepter) of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: King of kings and Lord of lords. (Emphasis mine)
Psalms 2:8-9:
8 Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod (scepter) of iron; you shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel. (Emphasis mine)
How Do You Wield a Scepter?
It is a staff—some are about 6-7 feet tall (usually ornamental on the top). Some are much shorter. In the spirit, hold it in your right hand (the hand of strength). You can be seated or standing, then extend your scepter out from your body, pointed in the direction of the situation needing governance, and make the declaration of Heaven over the situation. From your position—you rule! Never rule from assumption—only from position!
Remember…
You are in authority because you are under authority.
- You are to rule in and from your places of assignment, not battle from them.
- If you were not qualified, you would not have received the scepter.
- You can either further qualify yourself or disqualify yourself based on how you handle the responsibility given.
- Rule with righteousness. Let that be your first motivation—to establish righteousness where you are!
- Finally…
Rule by scepter, not by sword!
We must:
- Recognize that you have received your scepter. (See Luke 10:19 and Romans 5:17). Know that the Father has already extended royal favor to you because you are His son.
- Stand in His righteousness. It is called the “scepter of righteousness” in Hebrews 1:8. To wield it, your character needs to align with his righteousness. Authority flows through purity and right standing with God.
- Speak with authority. Kings rule by decrees because their word is backed by the authority of their office. Often, wielding your scepter will involve declaring God’s Word over situations and circumstances. You aren’t pleading, you are declaring from a position of strength. You wield your scepter when you speak in faith, align with Heaven, and have confidence in your position. Angels will then do their part in fulfilling your declaration. Angels know when you are confident in what you say. Never speak from a position of hope. Speak from a place of confident knowing.
- Extend mercy and justice. You are extending the Father’s heart to those you are wielding the scepter toward. Sometimes you will rebuke darkness, and at other times welcome the broken. Righteous authority is not cold power; it is compassion married to strength.
- Stay yielded to the King. The Father is the source of any authority you carry. True wielding happens when you continually listen, obey, and yield to the King of kings. It is not about ruling for your will to be done. It is establishing His Kingdom on Earth as it already is in Heaven.
Now, request access to the Court of Crowns and let’s request the following:
Court Scenario
Father, I request access to the Court of Crowns. For every crown I have received, I am requesting the full release of the scepters that accompany these crowns.
I declare:
I will stand in righteousness, clothed in the Anointed One—Jesus Christ.
I will speak Your Word with authority and love.
I will extend mercy, justice, and truth wherever You send me.
I will govern my life, my family, and my sphere with Heaven’s wisdom.
I will yield continually to Your Spirit, never trusting in my own strength.
By Your Spirit, teach me:
- when to decree,
- when to extend favor,
- when to rebuke darkness, and
- when to shepherd with tenderness.
I arise today under the covering of the King. I embrace the call to rule with Christ—in purity, in power, and in perfect surrender.
Let my life be a reflection of Your righteous reign, and may Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven—through me.
Thank you, Father.

I am led by Your Spirit, clothed in Your righteousness, and empowered by Your grace.
Today, I rule and reign with Christ—for Your glory and the advancement of Your Kingdom.
I will not shrink back.
I am crowned, anointed, and commissioned.
The King’s authority rests upon me.
I will reign in life through Jesus, my elder brother, today!
