Who Owns the Earth?

This is an excerpt from Dr. Ron’s book Kingdom Advancement.

Establishing the Unshakeable Foundation of Kingdom Authority

The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters. (Psalm 24:1–2)

A Declaration Before A Debate

David does not open Psalm 24 with a question or a prayer. He does not ease you into the subject. He opens with a declaration—and the nature of that declaration determines everything that follows for the believer who is serious about advancing the Kingdom.

The earth is the LORD’s.

That is not poetry. That is a legal claim. It is the foundational premise upon which all of Kingdom advancement rests. Before a single word is said about gates, about the King of Glory, about who may ascend—the ownership question is settled. The earth belongs to God. All of it. All its fullness. Every person who lives in it. Every mountain of cultural influence, every business sector, every family system, every city, every nation.

If the earth is the Lord’s, then you are not a guest in hostile territory hoping to hold on until the rescue comes. You are not a minority community circling the wagons against an overwhelming enemy. You are an authorized ambassador of the rightful King, advancing into territory that already belongs to Him.

The reason so many believers live beneath their Kingdom potential is not a lack of willingness. They are sincere. They pray. They give. They serve. But somewhere in their operating theology—the theology they actually live from—sits a belief that the territory does not really belong to God. That the enemy has a legitimate claim on the ground they are trying to take. That their advance is an intrusion into foreign territory rather than a declaration of the King’s rightful ownership.

That belief is a lie, and it is a lie that has paralyzed more Kingdom assignments than any open demonic opposition ever has.

The earth is the Lord’s. Start from there. Everything else flows from there.

Authority Flows From Ownership

Kingdom authority is not produced by spiritual performance.

It is not accumulated through years of ministry experience. It is not earned through the right combination of fasting, prayer, and warfare. It is inherited—and it flows from the ownership relationship between the Father and the earth He created.

Think about this legally, because the Courts of Heaven operate on legal principles. When a king owns territory, his ambassadors carry the full weight of his authority in that territory. The ambassador does not establish personal credibility in every new location. He carries credentials—and those credentials represent the king. When the king’s authority is recognized, the ambassador’s authority is recognized. Not because of who the ambassador is, but because of whose ambassador he is.

Your crown of authority is not a symbol of your personal spiritual achievement. It is a credential—issued by the King, backed by His ownership, carrying the full legal weight of His governance. When you walk into a territory wearing your crown, you are not walking in as a private individual hoping God will show up. You are walking in as a representative of the One who founded that territory on the seas and established it upon the waters.

That shifts everything about how you advance.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)

What Unawareness Costs You

In Embracing Your Crown of Authority, I wrote that many believers live beneath their divine potential because they are unaware of the spiritual crowns they are meant to wear. The word unaware is doing significant work in that statement. The issue is not rebellion. It is not even disobedience in the traditional sense. It is a lack of revelation—and that lack costs the believer enormously.

Hosea 4:6 tells us that God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. That is not primarily an intellectual problem—it is a revelatory problem. The knowledge that transforms is not information stored in the mind. It is a revelation received by the spirit, worked into the inner man, and expressed in the posture and boldness of a life that genuinely believes the earth is the Lord’s.

When that revelation lands, everything changes. Prayer changes—from desperate petition to confident enforcement. Engagement with spiritual opposition changes—from anxiety to authority. The approach to the territory changes—from cautious, tentative advance to the confident stride of an ambassador who knows whose ground he is walking on.

This is what I want to produce in you through this book: not more information, just revelation that changes your posture.

CASE STUDY: The Apostle Paul in Athens

Acts 17:16–34

When Paul arrived in Athens—the cultural and intellectual capital of the ancient world—he did not arrive as a religious visitor in a foreign culture. He arrived as an ambassador of the King who owned the ground on which the Athenians were building their temples. Acts 17:16 tells us his spirit was provoked as he observed the city full of idols. That provocation was the response of a man who knew Psalm 24:1 experientially—the earth is the Lord’s—and who recognized those idols as rival ownership claims on territory that belonged to another King.

His response was not retreat. He went into the marketplace daily. He engaged the philosophers at the Areopagus. And when he stood before the city’s intellectual authority, he declared: God, who made the world and everything in it, is Lord of Heaven and earth. He was standing on the authority of Psalm 24 without ever quoting it. This is what it looks like to advance from the conviction that the earth belongs to the One who made it.

The Mandate Has Not Changed

Some believers hold a theology that the dominion mandate of Genesis 1 was either revoked at the fall or scaled back in the New Testament era. That is not what Scripture teaches. The mandate was not rescinded—it was damaged and distorted by the covenant breach of Adam and Eve. What the cross accomplished was not a scaling back of the dominion mandate but its full restoration. Jesus, the second Adam, came to undo what the first Adam forfeited. His victory at Calvary restored the legal basis for humanity’s authorized governance of the earth under the King.

You are not hoping for a future Kingdom. You are enforcing a present legal reality that was secured at Calvary and is registered in the Courts of Heaven. The enemy still operates. He still resists. But he does so as a defeated occupant whose eviction has been legally secured and is now being progressively enforced by those who know whose ambassador they are.

Activation: Establishing the Foundation

[This activation is designed to be done in a quiet, unhurried setting. Have a journal nearby.]

Sit quietly and take several deep breaths. Still your mind. Position your spirit forward—consciously set your soul behind and allow your spirit man to come to the fore.

Speak this aloud:

“Father, the earth is Yours. Every inch of it. The territory You have assigned to me belongs to You—and I am Your authorized ambassador in it. I receive that reality now, not as information but as revelation.”

Ask Holy Spirit to show you the specific territory He has assigned to your Crown of Authority. This may come as a mental picture, a strong inner impression, a Scripture, or a clear sense in your spirit. Write down what you receive—without editing or second-guessing.

Now speak over that territory:

“This ground belongs to the King of Glory. I declare His ownership over every person, every structure, and every spiritual reality in this territory. I advance into it as His ambassador, under His authority, with His credentials.”

Close by charging your spirit:

“Spirit, I charge you to carry the weight of this truth. You are not advancing into enemy-owned territory. You are walking on the Father’s ground. Advance with confidence. In Jesus’ name.”

Journal what Holy Spirit spoke to you about your specific territory and assignment.

A Declaration for Your Advance

“The earth is the Lord’s, and I am His authorized ambassador in this realm.”

“I advance in the name of the King who owns everything I am assigned to.”

“I receive the full weight of His ownership as the foundation of my authority.”

“I will not live beneath my Kingdom potential. I know what I carry, and I will advance accordingly.”

“The earth is the Lord’s—and my portion of it will reflect His glory.”
