I heard these words yesterday:
You are more than enough because of Who lives inside of you.
Those words came straight from Heaven and were spoken through me to a Heaven Down Business client. The words resonated with both of us.
This past Saturday, April 6, was the one-year anniversary of my mother’s graduation to Heaven. Several years before, my mother had requested that I play for her funeral. I took piano lessons for nine years while growing up, but over the years I had lost some of the skills I had developed early on. It was the impetus to study piano again, as I was suddenly faced with the prospect of playing a variety of music (including classical music) and felt unprepared. I found a local spirit-filled music teacher and studied under her for three years. When we moved to Pinehurst in 2021, I found a new teacher who continues to challenge me to further improve and increase my skill on the piano.
Two important factors enabled me to play well at an emotional event despite interruptions by multiple people, exhaustion, and grief: (1) I prepared extensively for the funeral with five years of lessons and many hours of practice; and (2) the Lord taught me that He is more than enough to see me through any difficult situation. If I do my part, He will surely do His. I trusted Him, relied on Him, and believed Him to help me. And He did. Mom would be proud.
How do I know for sure that He is more than enough and that He made us more than enough? Let us look at a few scriptures to establish these facts:
- 1 John 4:4 states, “Little children, you can be certain that you belong to God and have conquered them, for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world.” Jesus lives inside us, and He is greater than our enemy.
- He has delivered us from all our fears and anxieties, as the psalmist wrote in Psalm 34:4. As you can imagine, I had to fight a lot of fear and anxiety leading up to and during the time I played at my mother’s funeral.
- In Genesis 17:1, God revealed himself to Abram as Almighty God, or El Shaddai – the All Sufficient One, the One who is more than enough. It was at that time He changed Abram’s name to Abraham and named him the father of many nations. He also changed Sarai’s name to Sarah. El Shaddai promised to bless both Abraham and Sarah, to the point they would be exceedingly fruitful. And He did it with His revealed name – the One who is more than enough.
- Colossians 3:3 “For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” I died to the old ways and my life is now encompassed in Jesus.
- Colossians 3:3 (Mirror) “Your union with his death broke the association with that world; see yourselves located in a fortress where your life is hidden with Christ in God!” Let me share with you what I wrote for an assignment on this verse during my CourtsNet FTP class:
- When you died on the cross with Jesus, the association with your former world was broken forever. Broken association – you no longer live in that world. You have a whole new life and the ties to the old life are broken. Severed. They cannot be repaired (nor do you want them repaired!). You no longer associate with the mindsets and behaviors of the old world. You live in the new world, new life with Jesus. All things are new!
- I am hidden within Christ, now located in a fortress where I am protected on all sides. Like being in a castle that is well-fortified, and no enemy can breach it. I live protected and content. I see myself; I see Jesus putting me inside His fortress. No enemy can get to me. I am safe. My life is hidden with Christ in God…Jesus Christ is in God, and I am in Jesus, and Jesus is in me, so God is in me, and I am in God. In His heart. On His mind. Jesus is seen instead of me. Because I am hidden! With Christ in God! I am the letter inside the Envelope (Christ) inside the jacket pocket next to the heart of God! So, what defined me before does not define me now (I died). And the secret of my life is my union with Christ in God. I have a secret life, a dwelling place within Jesus and my Father, where Holy Spirit breathes sweet intimacy upon me. Where He touches the secret places in my heart and brings me to the depths of Himself. I want to always stay in the Secret Place with Him.
- Romans 8:37-39 (TPT) “Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything! So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I am convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us – no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!”
I am hidden in Christ Jesus, in the love of God, and I am one with Him. Nothing will ever separate me from His love. As I stay hidden in Him, I am protected, I am safe, I am an overcomer, and I am more than enough because He is more than enough inside of me!
